Juan is making a funny noise. Recently fitted is a new carbon rear hugger. I suspect this to be the cause. The carbon one is a lot longer than the standard plastic one but there is plenty of space between it and the wheel. The chain is not slack so it's not that banging away on the underneath. The hugger is not loose either. Ummmm... 3 and 3/4 revs brings out the best in it. What can it be and how shall I go about fixing it? Shall I ignore it? I'm only concerned because I can hear it over the termies so it must be seriously loud.

What sort of Termis have you got? I had to remove my hugger when I got high level termis fitted cos they caught slightly

Low levels.
I can't honestly see what can be catching where, if something is catching at all. It all looks OK. I wonder if it is just the vibrations causing this rattling but as it's bolted on good and tight, I don't know.

just a thought, go for a ride to get to know your noise, come back, remove hugger and then go for a spin, see if it still does it, if not, come back and put it back on, test once more and even if it hasn't gone by then youll know if its the cause.

Could be chain hitting the guard, or the hugger hitting the tyre on bumps. The carbon does flex a bit more than the standard plastic huggers, and if the chains loose it can make contact?

Well, Grumpy Dave, it weren't making the sound before the hugger was changed but does now and after the flicking incident at Finchingfield, I am sure it's the same sound just magnified.
Gary, have checked the underneath of the chain guard part and all well. No marks or anything. Going over bumps makes the sound more prominent though, yes but it will also make the same said sound at a steady pace. Have noticed it at 2 different steady revs.
I think it should come off and be checked and I think a fiddle about is called for.

I was going to suggest what the chaps just said, this happened to me although it was intermittent (after putting a hugger on-cheers Berto you lovely C**T) in any case I got a new chain and it has gone, as did 80 pounds but it was worth it. I now oil my chain with big love. It cant really be anything else back there? try turning the engine off and going a bit freestyle.
