Ooh, this is kind of exciting being an actual owner now [although I don't actally have her in my hands yet!], and having techy questions to ask :D

The guy who sold me the bike suggested that I invest in a stainless engine bolt kit. I've done a search on Google but can't seem to find any listed that are suitable for a '98 750. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers everyone.

Don't know what they're like, but I belive there is a guy on eBay regularly selling stainless bolt packages for monsters. Think he wants a tenner for it.

hi,

if you get a list of what bolts you need from a ducati dealers any engineering supplies company will be able to supply for a very competative price.

alternataly try ebay.com not .co.uk

Great cheers, I'll have a go. While I'm here, the other thing I was after were decals...like the 'DUCATI' in the photo below. Any ideas?

get them all done, thankfully "dave" (well, he has a subaru) who works next door supples them....front fork pinch bolts 8 x m8 35 mm lower axle pinch 4 m8 30mm. try and not do what I did and tear one of them as they need less torque than one would imagine..

Would 'Dave Next Door' be interested in some business?

Cheers for the link zimbo. Yeh I think it probably is. He only mentions the 600 and the 900 but I've sent him a message asking whether they'll fit the 750 as well.

there is a "dave next door" on most trading estates, the BSR aerotek kit is good for 12 (ish quid) despite a hole in my eyebrow I am mostly 1% surgical steel, 90% stainless and 9% ducati cheese bolts (actually no better or worse than japanese cheese so don't worry too much)

Alex.

ps.At some point soon pedals will leap in and point out that the BSR kit is about 3 quid !!more expensive than equivalent from a fastner company... slinky ninja that he is (however! his pdf is very informative however! it's for a 900, the 750 has a different case and possibly cambelt cover)

Cheers Alex...Ok I feel a bit of tit for not realising Dave was so well known.

Rich, she gets picked up on Monday so should be here on Wednesday. I feel like a kid at Christmas :D :D :D

There's no way I'm putting her away for the winter, so I'm just trying to find out as much as I can. Ordered 5Ltrs of that Scotoil today...should be enough to see me through :D

Stock up on Silkolene Pro FST as well. You'll need it for the winter...
If you have carb warmers on your model, you should have them switched on all the time in winter/autumn/spring, and i leave them on during summer too, as summers here are not quite Mediterranean just yet.

My theory is that silky pro fst is merely an expensive way to buy Isopropyl alcohol, but I haven't put it to the test yet. Maybe this year will be the one...

Just found these on eBay if anyone else was on a similar mission to 'stainless' everthing. I've just ordered both sets so I'll let you know how I get on. Being a lazy git, I liked the whole coded bag, step by step instuction thing :D

don't know much about bolt suppliers but the decals are the same as the ones that were on my tank until a couple weeks ago. Got quoted about 12 quid a side from the ducati dealers in newcastle.
