This afternoon I wasn't able to turn of the alarm with my little handheld remote device. It worked when I used the spare one though, so I got away after a while of confusion.

Do I need to change the battery? The red light was indicating transmission, and I tried when holding it close to the receiver too, but no luck.

Is it easily changed? Do I only have to pop the plastic cover open or must someone with costly magical skills do it? If not battery, what else could it be?

It's a Datatool veto evo, btw.

If the led on the remote flashes when you hold down a button then the battery's low. Easy to change... there should be a couple of small screws, just take them out and pop the thing apart.

If it still don't work then you'll need to realign the transmitter with the reciever. This too is easy... with the alarm armed, hold down both buttons for about 5 seconds until you hear it beep, the transmitter should now work. You can't do this with a low battery in the transmitter tho.

No flashing, only constant light.
I tried the realignment thing though, worked a treat and all is well now.
Thanks.
