Anyone out there know whether these clocks ( see attatchment) will fit a M900 1994 by fitting the realavant mechanical speedo & rev cables?
Cheers Tony

clocks off an S4 hummm
im sure the speedo cable will plug stright in but the revcounter hummm not sure might be different connectors for water tempt light etc
...
I think the 900 94 monster may have a cable drive for the rev counter?

wireing diagram on last page of s4 owners manual
it is a no no..
S4 is injected therefore the rev counter is electronic.

In which case you wire the rev counter up to the coils no?
non non !
Rev counter input on injected should be coming from ECU (in theory).
not 100% sure though, but quasi almost dead sure.
On forementioned diagram, there is a TACHOUT connection on the CPU..
that is your clue.

life is far too short to be reading other peoples diagrams, but you are probably right. Although revcounters can be made to work via the coils. probably not worth it though. no?

I think you'll be wasting your time trying to fit a set of clocks from any EFI monster to an earlier carbed version. The clocks on newer bikes have factory fitted immobilisers which are linked into the ECU in some way, and are also fitted as a matched set.
Simon (marchesini) tried to run his S4 without the standard clocks, and it wouldn't start unless the clocks were plugged into the loom.

Err.. no - the early monsters didn't have any rev-counter as standard at all. They have also never been cable driven (no output drive on camshaft), and after market ones are electonic - picking up a signal from one of the coils.

Errr, might have to throw a spanner at that!! Mine has the drive on the cam shaft but has a blanking plate bolted over the top. Early 900ss bikes used a cable driven rev counter.
Either way it makes no odds to me as I have Road Racing Clocks.....
That's what that blanking plate is ! i was wondering.
good info Ped.

Thought the early ones had the drive blanked off, but no drive on the cam shaft anyway?
Oh well - live and learn :p
