Can the early silly-stand shod 748 be equipped with the later, more sensible stand of it's later spec counterpart?

Yes, but they are bloody expensive... £65 for the leg, and another £55 for the bracket, plus £14 for the bolt (all plus VAT), and few more quid for the springs, nut and hookie piece...

Trying to get a complete one s/h from anywhere is a nightmare (I know!) - even the racer boys hang on to them for when they come to sell the bike...

Thanks Jen. But its probably cheaper than a wheelie bin full of fairings and casings! I hate how far the older bikes lean on the stand

Maybe you could get someone to machine up a longer leg for it? - ought to be cheaper than replacing the whole lot? Or does it have the springy-up doofer too? - I'd get rid of that for sure x

Good luck anyway...

Hell yeah! Its got the "make-you-look-like-a-complete-tw@-when-you're-trapped-under-it" stand they were all fitted with pre-2000.

Cut the head off the bolt so the spring up action is removed - worked on my 900 suicide stand. The best bit is that it's free unless you have to buy a hacksaw....

Cheers Pedro! Is it obvious which bolt it is? I haven't got the bike yet, I'm planning changes in advance.

Yeah. It was a strange riding experience compared to the Monster, but I think I can dial out most of the 250ness out of the 748's clip-ons. It was a lot more friendly than I was expecting and had a similar power delivery to my M750, but it just kept going.

And it's red
