Am having a bit of a problem getting an open face helmet small enough for my girlfriend and wondered if anyone knows of a manufacturer that makes particularly small ones.
Have tried Aria, AGV, MOMA, Spada and any other ones that have been in the scooter shops. Its looking like Davida, if I can find somewhere with an XS, which is not great cause they don't have any way of fitting one of those lovely Bob Heath visors, and at £170 odd are not what my girl wants to pay, although I am going dutch with her.
She refuses full face cause they make her claustrophobic.
here's hoping...
Cheers
Craig
Does she have a nice face? Learn to deal with the claustrophobia. Too many miopic car drivers in London!

She's got a beautiful face, which she wants to show to the traffic, and likes to live on the edge.
Seriously, I think some one freaking out and having a panic attack on the back of a bike is probably more dangerous than the myopic driver society of London. I got her to try a full face and she was still freaking out half an hour after she'd had it on her head, for less than 30 seconds....so they are definitely out.
Fair comment. Might be worth checking out the Harley shop next to Walthamsow Stadium.

Cheers, I hadn't thought about the safety conscious cruiser brigade.
Just so you know I had tried my best to get her to wear a full face but the panic in her beautiful face convinced me otherwise.

the girls on scooters (pat pending) demographic is quite sizeable? strange that small open face lids are a rarity? (maybe only available in eggshell pinks and blues?) I would opt for a davida, yes they are dear but well made and perfect for framing pretty faces.

My girl's over 5 foot but tres, tres petite. She manages to shop in kids shops alot and wears a denim jacket from Baby Gap. She really does have an extra wee head, although she looks in perfect proportion.
It's getting to the point of 'just buy one and always wear a hat under it' which is not great but don't really know what else to do.

I have just bought my 10 year old daughter a Caberg. Admittedly not an open face type but they do them too. I just figured my daughter's head is pretty small so one of them might fit. It was £100 in J and S.

hmmm.. you know, I'm sure I was at some godawfull biker rally thing recently (you know the kind) anyway, there was a stall selling kiddie biker gear...little leather waistcoats (whats all that about btw?) and "my grandad is a biker" tshirts. The point is they do junior size lids? yeah I'm sure they do.
good luck.

To be honest Al me old fruit, the kiddie helmets are crap. They are made out of rubbish and just painted pretty so they appeal. Get a Caberg!

I was in 'The Foundry' (Robinsons Harley Davidson :o ) at Canterbury on Saturday and they had a load of open face helmets (including Roof, Davida, MOMO and Cromwell) that were on sale as end of line...all either XS or XL...
Try giving them a call

They're made out of polycarbonate (I think) and you can bend them with your hands. Not good.
Craigie, buy her the best. It's a small price to pay to keep her looking beautiful.

Get her the Davida 'tricolore' part no. 24490 one, it's way cool and you know she's worth it! ;)
I know that's what I thought when I bought my 'bargain' Arai RX7 Corsair for £350!! :D
You'll have to measure her head to see if they fit, an XS works out as 53-54cm

Found some at the Scooter Emporium down Brick Lane

Thanks all for your comments and tips. I shall be trying, probably, all of them in my search to protect the beautiful yet very fussy head of my little lady.
Cheers again

I agree with the above, and maybe the rest too, you know-for proportions etc.
Have you tried Rooof lids? They do the boxer flip front, which is just as good flipped, and they do xs sizing for pinheads. They also do a cheapish open face lid too. Quality lid for the dosh. Or try a BMW emporium. The bosch are very safety conscious so must do mini sizes.

Have tried the Rooof ones and still too big. As for BMW, she may have a teeny head but it is stylish and very stubborn. It won't be worn if it don't look good, and this is a girl that doesn't like bikes or any of the paraphenalia that goes with it. Kinda limits a very limited set of choices, not even a set...

well I dislike most bikes and a lot of the paraf stuff you mentioned, I am a poncy flash git though so if you describe the sort of "look" she has I am sure I can use my fashion industry knowledge to style a suitable outfit.

You know, I had the same trouble with my bint, so I left her at home. It handles better too.

Is that the one that said "no, those trousers are ugly...not flarey enough" ??
I know exactly what she means though, it's not about being tucked in.

Craigie,
Im a bit concerned about your good lady's head size, how small is small?
Are we talking....dragged off into the jungle by a tribe....and she was returned to you with a small head.....or is she just petite and generally small, with a head inkeeping with the rest of her.
I used to know a girl called Edwina who had a very big head...true!

Had a nightmare finding an open face lid small enough for my other half too. She tried loads on - usual makes Shoie, AGV , Caberg and loadsa cheap polycarbonate lids, and all were way too big in even XS size.
We had almost given up until she tried an XXS roof roadster on at the NEC a couple of years ago, and found it too small! Ended up going for the XS size in the end which fitted a treat. I thought Sandra had a small noggin, so as you said your girl must have a wee tiny head!

If anyone else here has a girlfriend (or partner) with a very small head and has had similar helmet size shopping tales of woe and frustration then this is the place to post it.
Alex.
ps.My friend Becky has a very small head, she went through a phase of big hair to compensate but I always thought this only exacerbated the problem?

I'm sure you could B but if it included anything practical like being waterproof or protective in any way then its no gonna happen. Look good, get wet and cold also used to be my motto on the old Vespa but the dailyness of that kind of weather got to me, maybe a winter on the back will get my girl a bit more practical...doubt it though. And she can pick a lovely impractical outfit all on her own.

52cm, measured with a Stanley tape measure. And all in proportion.
So I've got big hopes for XS davida.
