changed the belts on the 900 and took the beast for a spin.
Bike ran OK, but i didnt push the revs up.
I found the riding position very uncomfortable though.
possibly due to a bent clutch lever (i did that), and brake lever too far out.
The gear selector needs adjusting as well.

but overall , it's around the shoulders that the position wasnt good.
then i noticed that the forks were pushed further down the yokes than on the 600.
I have about 1 inch between the top of the fork tube and the top yoke. This is what i think is the norm. On the 900, the top of the tube is flush with the top of the top yoke. that could be why i am uncomfortable.
Can anyone tell me what the setting should be ? considering those are the showa forks (97 bike)?

My forks are 22mm above the top of the top yoke. You might want to try rotating the bar forwards or backwards a little to change the riding pisition.

The factory workshop manual says to set the fork legs 280mm from the underneath of the lower triple clamp to the top of the fork leg - (not the top of the fork nut)

I personally run 285mm as it makes the bike turn quicker but I have a steering damper fitted.

If your shoulders are hurting you might try rotating the handlebars back a bit.
