Hello all

After a few hours blast up to builth wells I noticed my engine had quite a noticeable amount of oil dribbling down it!
Just above the front sproket, there is a ledge bit that you can see through to the other side of the engine, (sorry i dont know nuffink about engines).
Well that bit anyway, has a few small pools of oil.

I allso noticed when i was out that when i opened up the throttle, it would wait for about a thousand revs before kicking in on the power.
Anyone who has an S4 knows that when you open up the throttle, the power is imediate!
I thought it might have been because I just fitted a K&N and too much air was getting in or something, as i havent had it on the dynojet yet...

Any advice?
Its going to the garage monday anyways, but how serious does this sound?

Cheers
DB

Some S4's leak at the barrel base gasket, have look below the rear exhaust downpipe in the webbing, is there a pool of oil there? (although i am not sure if its the front or rear of the barrel where the leaks occur)

If its the base gakset the redundant feed to the barrel will need plugging when the barrel is off.

Having said the above mine has not leaked.

Not sure about your throttle delay, K&N shouldn't screw it up, is the bike fitted with a Power Commander?

Nope, no power commander just yet. thats next month.

Like I said, im taking it into the garage monday anyway. Or is this something I can fix myself?

If its the cylinder base gasket and you are mechanically challanged then its a specialist job and it won't be cheap.

Ok, heres a picture of where the oil is most visable...
I am very mechanicaly challenged indeed, so the garage is probably gonna get a few bucks out of me!

Is it a massive job then?

I would guess its about a days labour for someone who has done this before + the cost of the gaskets, i would clean the oil off and run it and see if you can see where the oil is coming from. It looks from the photo the back of the barrel is stained with oil?

Yep, in the picture, the flat bit of the engine is stained with oil...
Ive since washe it all off, taken it for a blast, and no new oil has shown...

However, its still not running right. Still getting jittery power.
I dunno if this is a K&N issue or not.

Im taking it into the garage tonight though, so see what he says.

Cheers for the help!
