Download Google Earth from here:-
http://www.google.com/downloads/
It's only a beta version at the moment, but it will be complete in the not-to-distant future hopefully.
You can zoom down to 'Ground Zero' in New york, and that shows what Google Earth will be like in the future.

Not just new york, bits of the uk have hi-res photos.
My mate Owen lives in Castle Donington near the racetrack,I can see his house, its after he had his drive laid two years ago, theres no car in it so his wife must be at work.
Its good. :D
spotted this a while ago, sadly it is not as it seems. i thought it was satellite pics live but it isnt't.some of the areas surveyed seem to be up to date but for example the pictures on swansea(my beloved home), and in particular the moat surrounding my rear fields (you can tell i am well travelled) is very old.

If you use Multi Map, that has an Arial Photo (http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=539000&Y=180000&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=GB&pc=&zm=1&scale=50000) option just above the map field. (although in the Link it says 'Map Only' with a cross through a camera)
