before anyone jumps in with the theoretical what ifs and don't get jump to conclusions and MCN's journalistic qualities. With all the coverage this story has had over the weekend it looks as though he'll be doing a lot of testing for Ferrari next year to see if the swap is possible, neither he or they want to bother unless there is a real chance of winning.
But whats the opinion here, good for motor sport, good for F1, good for gp?
Just say he did swap to 4 wheels, i say it'll make F1 better and GP too as there's no obvious second best rider in gp right now and the season would be a real battle.
My fingers are crossed for 2007.

i would love to see rossi make the change i might bother to watch it then but it does seem it's the car and not the driver that makes the difference unlike moto gp

Hmm.. difficult one to ponder. Would be nice to see him have a bash at F1, but it isn't much of a spectator sport at the moment. They keep trying to shake up the format and make the racing more interesting, but the cars still hardly ever overtake unless it's in the pits  ZZZZzzz
I guess GP's loss is F1's gain, and as you say it will open things up a bit in GP if Rossi moves on. I'll follow his progress if he makes the jump, but will always view bike racing with more enthusiasm.
I have just finished Rossi's book, it explains how and why he had a go in F1 in that.
Nooooo! Save that for your retirement Vale, if Capirossi's had enough of Ducati what about moto GP champion on 3 different manufacturers' bikes? has anyone done that yet? He could still move to F1 before he hits 30.

I think he should jump to F1 in 2007 and 2008 see if he can win in that as well...
If he fails at F1 then he would come back to MotoGP...Ducati would be the likely team to get him due to the ties between Ferrari and Ducati and their sponsors...
Besides this era needs a motorsport super hero....and no-one in F1 or anyone else in MotoGP or WSBK or AMA or BSB is in the position to do what Rossi could do...

As I think Rossi is an arrogant, opinionated, rude pric.k then he'll fit in well in F1. Off he goes.

Yup that he may be, but he can't half ride a bike.

I would be too if I were;
- 7 time world champion of the greatest sport on earth
- Had destroyed any and all pretenters to the thrown over the last 5 years
- made the amount of money he does to the world best (and worse) tracks on some of the best and fastest motorcycles on earth...
Arrongance, opionated and rude prick with million and million of pounds in the bank for doing what I love and do for fun now...sounds good to me!

I think he's a cheeky little monkey, couldn't you just hug him?
All sports need 'characters' to champion them, with the press and fans, as well as on the field of play.

7 times world champion of the greatest sport on earth? Didnt know the twat played football as well
Destroyed?...hardly, hes a great rider........I've no doubt that theres someone who could do him, he doesnt really have any great challengers. Im not really a great fan of MotoGP...nor for that matter F1, its not real enough. As someone mentioned Id like to see him aboard the pile of crap that Ducati call their offering tho :D
In many ways he reminds me of Ayrton Senna, although Senna had some manners. Rossi reminds of nothing more than a spoilt prick, who needs taking down a peg or two.

I like football, I dont watch MotoGP as I prefer real racing ala B&WSB, F1 is as entertaining as counting diced carrots in vomit and yes I do ride a bike and have done for 28 years.....next?

How can you like football after last nights total ****-Up
Unless you are a non England fan. Rossi has nothing else to prove in Moto-Gp.
Mr. Surtess here is still and legend when he did the double. Rossi will, could be the modern equivalent.
But I think he will get bored with F1, how can such an ass achingly boring sport go on? only over taking in pit stops!!
I think he should have a go at World Superbike that would be total "beat that" to his rivals..specailly Biaggi.
Or do a Freddie Spencer, do different classes in same season?
Rossi is Wonderful. Do we forget how boring Dohan was, fast but boring

A friend of mine who has followed bike racing since the days of Geoff Duke and really knows his stuff reckons Rossi is the best ever!
I've only been following it since Sheene, Roberts, Haslam et al but Rossi really is something else. It's always difficult to compare eras, sometimes one person dominates a sport because of the lack of competition from other quarters at the time but I don't think that is the case with Rossi.
Now if he were to win a championship on a Ducati - that would be genius!

Im half English, half Irish, last nights result wasnt good........but as a long time Leicester fan, Im quite used to soul destroying disappointment. But then love of sport for me is not dependent on the proportion of success. I'm not a fan of a Chelsea or a Man Utd etc., but I grew up with the sport and like millions of other football fans its a cross that one bears :)

There have been many greats in motorcycle racing and Rossi is undoubtedly up there with them....fact remains he's still a prick :D I'm a great believer in gentlemanly behaviour, respect for ones competitors and just plain decent good manners.....nah sorry hes a ****! Hehe insert your own expletive there. I'd like to see Rossi break his shin bone, stop, patch it up, rejoin the race, and win!! Anybody remember who that was? That was real racing, not sanitized, sponsored bollocks masquerading as sport, MotoGP and F1....nope ta.
