Currently, I live just outside the throbbing metropolis of a provincial market town. Room for necessities and secure motorcycle parking. I am in the process of giving it all up for what I hope is the chance to live in an isolated paradise further into East Anglia, possibly on the road to nowhere, so I can have no neighbours, a pygmy goat and a trained squirrel. I have watched all episodes of "The Good Life" so will be just fine. Wish me luck!

Personally I am heading for a half way house between the ghetto that you so eloquently describe and a suburban 'cheers' type environment where everyone knows your name and you competency levels with regards the butterfly stroke.
Actually had a bit of moment last week where I realised that despite its negative points after nearly five whole English years I will miss my terracotta palace and all of its recently removed quirks.
Still viva la botanical gardens and midnight snorkelling along the Thames...
Yours with a snag checking opportunity just round the corner x

currently languishing in a green and pleasant place, soon to be remidied as I yearn the morning sunlight glinting off fresh hypodermics, police sirens and the occasional 21 gun salute. I will miss the shed.

I'm by the sea and I have a miniature railway practically on my doorstep.

Terrace house on street full of students from all parts of the world. All except this part.

70's minimalist match box but with a peaceful garden for when it doesn't rain (unlike now). One day I will live in a tree house.....
I live in a quiet close, where you can hear the hum of the M1 if you listen really carefully, the distant screams of delight of children playing on the reccy, the hum of Flymos on a Sunday morning and the ROAR of Al's VTR at 6.15am as he rides off to work - mwhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

A quite cul-de-sac on the edge of a unuversity market town. 1930's build with enough space for my bikes and cars. I love it. Everyone in the street is freindly and helps with anything and looks after my house when i'm away. Its perfect. I think most members of the MOC have been to my house now anyway...

17th Century semi-detached cottage (well, my American colleagues are impressed anyway!) with low ceilings and a massive fireplace -plus cracking walls, flaking paint, and the usual "character" that really means "falling apart", but we love it. Single track road, lots of dogs, cricket pitch at the end (keeps Rog happy), and room for a garage to shelter JMo while she does all our mods for us.
Semi-rural Sussex, no gas, 4 miles to the nearest shop, but a stone's throw from the A29 and Bury Hill, 15 miles to the sea, and a short jaunt to Mel in Chichester to buy shiny things! Love it!

Currently residing in a terraced house in Huddersfield. Not fantastic but its got a garage and the landlords busy ripping a load of stuff out to put new bits in and putting electric in the garage while he's at it.
By sunday evening I'll be back up at my real home (alright, my parents) for a week where the nearest street light or pub or anything else is 4 miles away. Not exactly a noisy place, pretty much the only thing you can hear is the surf on the beach 2 miles away if its been rough.
1895 end Terrace, Im probally the only one left in the street who actually owns his house and contributes fiscally to society.
