Rosemary is a bit of a darling, dill works well with steak. go easy with that tarragon stuff though...

My favourite colour is red, my favourite part of a lady is the bottom and my favourite wood is Elm...what are yours etc?

personally craig, i am in favour of sultanas in curries, especially hot ones. Whilst not technically a herb, i feel they have all the characteristics to qualify and even contend with them.

mind you, if you try and smoke them they explode and can potentially ruin your carpet.

i am told that you can make wine from them though.

At what point does a plant that smells a bit become a "herb" I am sure there are rules about this kind of thing?

Got to be fresh curry leaves.

They smell amazing and they taste even better.

Also, they freeze well so buy lots of them.

i thought curry was a spice, i. e not a leaf, i am sure there is a sharwoods helpline for this query but i hate ringing those call centres in bombay, it takes forever to get through and then they all talk funny.

coriander is nice, is curry short for that?

Alex, i am impressed with your knowledge of insects, how do you know this?, have you been on one of these " i'm a celebrity, get me out of here" shows?

Ah yes. i remember with fondness Brick lane.....Sunday morning market was always the place to pick up a bargain. One time i remember grabbing five lighters (disposable) and a pack of tea towels all for two quid.

And some dodgy russian porn as well

yes I ate some, although Ant and Dec -boom boom- weren't there.

Ah yes brick lane on a sunday I remember it well....Web design Nathan Barley Shoreditch mullett types and girls in legwarmers snapping up 70's tat for only a few grand, also quite handy for "hot" mountain bikes and bagels as the drugs wore off.

I like the smell of curry plant - but not sure if it counts as a herb?

Ritts is good although his work falls short vis a vis "true" scrutiny as he projects so much? A very distinctive Hollywood style replete with the usual motifs... more a collaborative nee indulgent snapper as opposed to say a Salgado (to cite the obvious)

Dean,
You started this off with your sultana's in Curry......Vesta meals are not real curry..they were the pot noodle of there day and have an awful lot to answer for.....eaten by students in the 70's and early 80's who have now gone on to better things.....???
Beware.....

very true Des although a rogue pod is a bit of a mouthfull. Sometimes I go a bit crazy and put more than one bay leaf in, plus being a family of middle class ponces we use those little bundles of herbs all wrapped together like they do in foreign.

The mishap with the rogue pod, as you say, can cause odd facial expressions and incomprehesible utterances, thats why I use freshly ground, saves a lot of bother.
We also use the little tied bunch of mixed herbs (Bouquet Garni) in our stuff.
Only forgot to take that out once :D , another one is when you put cinnamon bark in your curry and forget it, very chewy then your mouth explodes :D :D :D

Coo, don't half fancy a curry now :D
