The time has come for me to go injected - I just can't face another winter of carb icing.

What do you reckon I should go for, anything up to and including 900cc is under consideration

Please bear in mind when replying that I am a short 5'2" in my socks and that my 600 is severley lowered and I still can't put both feet flat on the floor.

The M800 is a seriously good bike. Its got the same power as an old 900.

They feel physically small but you have to bear in mind the post 2000 monsters have a different frame and suspension to your bike with no suspension loop so will need different treatment to lower them. The S2R is pick of the bunch and very pretty but you might find one of last years 800's sat on a showroom floor.

thanks Duncan

probably popping over to Riders tomorrow to have a try out - I do rather like the S2R if I can get on one.

I'm with Duncan the 800 is a great bike but they are 1 inch taller at the seat..(i have the S model).. i think..(and i might be wrong) that the S2r is lower but i am sure your local dealer will give you a test ride.. ;)
happy shopping

The S2R is slightly higher than my 620. You might have to get a lower seat, but it would be worth it.It's a lovely bike.

I dont think youll go far wrong with an M800....arguably the most useable and fun motor of the entire range. Your hitting the market perfectly as im sure theres a few old stock ones knocking around.

Just dont be going to look at those bleedin honayamasakis or whatever there called will you ??!!

Good luck with a bargain !!

Thank you all for your welcome input.
Have plonked my ample arse on both the 620 and the S2R in Riders of Bristol and have given them my flippin' great wad of cash.....shame all the new number plates are utter PANTS.

and the scary thing is JR, the higher seat height means she's gonna have to wear them ALL the time.

Mrs Soup dearest....may it be worth mentioning that having just bought a tidy, shiney, gorgeous S2r (and matching number plate) that you now have a despicable, top-boxed monstrosity, taking up valuable SPACE in the garage, that you'd be only too happy to move on to someone for a pitiful sum....?

But of course my sugar plum !

Anyone want a 26,500 mile old much loved (but hardly ever cleaned) 1998 M600? Very veryy low - suit gnome, elf or similarly vertically challenged enthusiast with a fetish for polishing.

Seroiusly though - I will clean it before passing it on PM me for more details.

Can I ask why you'll clean it now that you don't need it yet haven't cleaned it in the last six years...?

Are you gonna adopt this same approach with the S2r...?

Are you selling it wiv topbox or are you saving that for the S2r too..?

I'm jealous... I tried an S2R at the track day (as did Andros), now both of you have traded up and I can't until next year.

Please post your first impressions regarding the S2R after you have ridden it for a few miles.

6 days and 415 miles after picking it up, I'm loving it !

It's as chuckable as my old M600 if not more so, it's much smoother at low revs round town and the extra grunt (even whilst running in ) gives that bit more confidence overtaking.

Taking some time to get used to the slipper clutch, it bites right at the top and is a bit odd on the up changes. Maybe I'll have to master clutchless up-shifts. Down changes are fine as I never used down shifts to slow the bike, except I keep losing count!

The sinlge sided luggage fits fine and is easily put on and removed, but it is slightly too small for a hardbacked A4 file.

Oh - and everyone else is dead jealous !

Thanks for asking

I'm intrigued  Do you mean a hard pannier on one side only? - picture please??

Nat - I guess Fluffy read your post before I did. ;)

When I got back from the allotment, not only was my scottoiler beautifully and discreetly fitted, but the sprocket nuts and split pin were neatly lockwired into place.
