Been wondering for a while what this is?
Sits below the top of the folks where they meet the yolk and is shaped to deflect air or summit???
Any clues....can't remember if I have seen it on all monsters.but dosn't seem to have any use.

I could be there to deflect air... or else prevent water and cra p being flung up from the front wheel and entering the airbox or bugg ering the electrics that are stashed around the headstock?

air brakes? almost sounds like a dust guard but they usually sit at the front of the forks in lieu of the gators of old and are generally not much use on usd?

According to the Workshop Manual its a Splashguard (Paraspruzzi)

hmm there is the box of expensive tricks there, is it the regulator or rectifier? I dont have a paraspritzer on mine? it's not really a splash prone area.

I guess it's a later modification - to stop the airbox scavenging dirty air, and that there are a number of electrical connectors around the headstock on the later bikes... as I suggested above x

Well think I will settle for that answer thanks JMo.
Better not take it off then as it actually does something then

It's probably the strongest part of the bike ..hence my question what it was for seems a little over built for what it does ;)
Do any other people have these on there strides?

Indeed I do (2002 620ie) - I'm planning on retaining it as it may work as balast since I'm changing the rear sproket for a 48T, and it might all get a bit wheelie-tastic otherwise!

Hmmmmmm... wonder is it's steel or alloy... I could polish it...

Hi,
I've a M1000ie 2004 model and it has one of these plates. Until now I've never really thought of why it's there.
