Hello M600TED

Re your belts, for peice of mind I would change them anyway. I am sure you could do them yourself but if in dought get a dealer to do them. When we got my other halfs bike last year (M750) we took it to Wolverhampton Ducati and they only charged about £70 including belts and fitting. In hindsight I would now do them myself but at the time I just wanted the piece of mind

Have fun... :)

welcome, I changed mine the other day and found it surprisingly not easy... the horiz is ok but the vertical goes in further so there is less slack to play with...oh and the top pulley wouldn't stay on its marker. Not difficult as such, more of a faff and a fiddle....a lot like life really. As for price I wouldnt go over 2g for a 600. Does it have standard silencers? If so you can whack 300 odd quid on top as you will want/need some within weeks.

Welcome to the club mate! :D

Well, put it this way mine was a standard M600 dark, Y reg (2001), 19k on the clock, FSH (belts needed doing though), high level cans, 1 owner from new...I paid £1550 for it.

So did you buy it then? :bunny:

Our M600, 2001 model with 18,500 miles on the clock - cost under £1000 in early Feb this year.

It just needed an MOT- which it got the next day, when AK had replaced the handlebars (originals just bent on one side) & also front mudguard (cracked).
Mind - it did look like it had never had a wash, nor a service in its life - and both tyres were on the borderline of failing MOT & were totally unworn on the sides

Its now enjoying a new life as a racebike in the DD series :D

Welcome.
As for price a lot depends on condition and whether it need new tyres or a service etc.
For a full service from Ducati you are looking at £400 and £200 for a pair of good tyres.
At the end of the day I wouldn't pay over £1500 but it's up to you.

and from an authorised dealer (eg: NOT a 'ducati store) a full 2 year service for a M600 should be under £300.

A set of tyres from a good tyre services should be about £150 max (Pirelli Diablo's, a very servicable tyre)

Good luck in your purchase,

C :)

Looking at how cheap older 600s are going for its quite tempting to build a DD racebike :) Where can I get one of those top fairings, C?

BTW - Welcome to the club :D

I was definitely ripped off when I got mine back in October last year £3300 for an x reg with 4k miles, however, I think you could say mine is unique  and I wouldn't have paid that if it had only been me contributing towards it!! I did get the belts done though and a new front tyre, also things to look at. Good luck :D

Yeah but no but yeah but no but; I class mine as high mileage and it was kept outside all year round...still, it was a bargain me thinks :D

Dave

we use 916 trackday fairings - cheap at under £200 for full set & also very light, tho we are using an R6 seat pod at the mo, as is easy to remove for spannering etc.
Not too difficult to weld on a bracket at the front & make up the screen mount either.

Might be worth shopping about at the BMF this w/end Dave.
