Can anyone tell me how to adjust the ride height on a 2001 S4. It has the single rod arrangement not the two pronged fork.

Yes it did undo the locknuts, I could see how it works in principle but wasnt 100 % certain that twisting the rod was the only thing you needed to do.
I was wondering if people had played around with the ride height and had some feedback on the effects.

The theory behind the ride height adjustment on the S4 is all fine and dandy except that it's virtually impossible to get at the lower locknut to undo it.

Hey hey - I'm about to do this to my 620 (have just bought the adjustable link rod) - I understand the best way is to jack the bike up and support it by the the frame (not the swing arm), then the weight is off the swingarm/link/shock and I guess by undoing the lower shock/linkage mounting bolt, you can drop the swingarm and then adjust the rod, before hooking it all back together?

I'm going to give it a go like that (I have to as I'm replacing the link rod anyway) - I'll let you know how it goes...

Sounds good to me Jen :D I'll let you know how I get on! I'm fitting my new 888 fully adjustable shock soon so I'll more than likely play with the rideheight while I'm at it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at that diagram I would of thought that you need to release at least one end of the tie-rod so that you can rotate the end. I'd also guess that you should really make the same adjustment at each end in order to keep a reasonable amount of thread in the rod. In other words, you can't make a ride height adjustment without taking the tie-rod out.

The two rose joints have opposite handed threads so you can rotate the tie rod in situe (if you can get the bloody locknuts undone!) and you will automatically end up with the same adjustment at each end.

I'd better adjust the height of mine pretty sharpish - I've been decking my Sils (and even the link pipes) out with these new Rennsports I've had fitted.

Yes, there is a rose joint (aka heim joint, rod end, etc...) at each end of the ride height adjustment rod.

Ah, that would explain it then!
