I hope you turned the pressure down.  .... the poor creature would have been cut to ribbons with a full (100psi) pressure wash.

I prefer the washing machine for cleaning my domestic pets ;)

Wow, I wouldn't have dared jetwash mine. I thought it was too fragile.

I use some WD40 on a rag on mine - works regardless of weather they are carbon, alloy or whatever...

I tried WD40 but wasn't too impressed with it (and it smelt to high heaven!)

The Jetwash was great.

I even had special wheel wash and a "no spot" rinse! I had a wet backside riding it home though it wasn't far away!

Parafin??? Wash over and leave on or rinse with soapy water????

Not too sure as we didn't actually get round to using any when we got back from the jetwash last night.

We'll more and likely do that at some point this week, hopefully Pete will spot this thread when he gets home and have an answer for you.

I use Mr Muscle or Flash with bleach for doing my alloys on my car - works wonders and it's cheaper than Wonder Wheels :)

May be an old answer, but firstly only lube the chain after a run, not before.
The heat from the chain helps the lube to penetrate (ooer !) and therefore less is flung all over your luvly bike, or your pillion's arse !

Jet washing bikes is not the smartest idea as the water can be blasted into wheel bearings etc which washes the grease out and rusts them pretty sharpish if your not careful. Better to get some Muc Off and a "gentle" spray from your garden hose.

Problem there...... no garden - so no hose. Live in upper storey maisonette so can't get the bike in the bath!

Bob, for my cans I use WD40, buff over after & then polish with mr Sheen :) and they are still in as good nick as they were almost 3 years ago - but they are Stainless ones

After a ride, I always lube the chain then pop in to make a cuppa & then wipe bike down with WD40 on a rag - keeps it neat. Only on very very rare occasions does it see water..............

For the tank etc I use one of Alans 'spensive car polishes ;)

Any reason why you dont spray the WD40 on?

wd40 does it well, if you wanna push the boat out get some turtle wax platinum polish. I used this on me wheels etc and the lube/ brake dust wipes off easy.

Blimey, to wash or not to wash, think I may just go in for the grungiest bike at next years weekender :o

Don't spray as it gets in the links and dissolves the lube that's in there already apparently, I was told off for spraying............no I'm not a cat :p

Never WD on the chain

WD - I spray it onto wheels & engine parts - where any overspray to surrounding areas wont harm, then also spray onto cloth to wipe over frame & other bits of bike - such as disc centres etc.
Avoid open clutch with spray from WD - as also brake pads (obvious I know.... but!)

Sometimes a little warm water for paint/glasswork & belly pan. Bellypan removed every month for checking underneath - and also cleaning out.

Also after winter riding, I gently lube all exposed points - levers etc, with nice grease from Alans side of the garage.

Cant be doing too much wrong, as done over 28,000 miles on my monsters in 3 years (and have only done 7,500 of those in the last 10 months )
