During a recent re build I struggled to get the steering head bearings as Ducati couldn't supply.
I sourced alternatives via a motor factor as they are used as front wheel bearings on a Fiat and the kit cost me less than £10
The reference numbers depending on the manufacturer are
FBK156 - First Line
QWB241
WBK208

My head race bearings are due on mine.

I looked at this thread and phoned MotoServ (car parts) and the price they gave me was £26 each and On Yer Bike gave me a price of £21.15 each - so surely it's better for me to get the Duke ones or do you know somewhere I can get them for what you said please?

I know I've answered this Hayley but for the sake of others who may be interested tou'll find that the wheel bearing kit comes as a hub set containing inner and outer bearings whereas the Ducati ones are single, hence cheaper.
I got mine through the trade and will do some checking on prices.

Correct part number is an SKF 639174. This gives you the entire 2 part bearing and is identical to the original equipment supplied by Ducati.

I got a pair last week for £29 inc the vat from local bearing suppliers Wyko in Bristol. List price is higher but they always give you a good discount in bearing places of about 45% on these items.

I tried some of those part numbers for car items in a local motor factor and they were all Ducati prices.

Just wondering - what is the outside diameter of the bearing where it fits the headstock?

I know stem is 26mm and I want to use monster forks on another bike where the bearing cup fits 48mm x 16mm

Anyone know what it is so I don't have to knock the bearing cups out the M600 to find out?

Thanks

 the outside diameter of the bearing is 52mm so you might have a problem there.

your closest options are probably 26x47x15 or 25x48x13 both taper rollers.

By the way We have stock of the taper bearings to suit Monsters (639174) at £20.00 for the set (top & Bottom) see www.bikebearings.co.uk for details

All the best

Well I have answered my own question

Timken:
L44613 Outer race
L44645 Bearing

FAG:
509592A Outer race
509590A Bearing

SKF:
639172 Outer Race
639174 Bearing

Or a Fiat 500(original 60 and 70s one)/Fiat 126 rear wheel bearings.

Hopefully someone will find this helpful.

If there is a Brammer bearing supplier in the area they have the SKF ones really cheap. Mine were replaced after the weaving problem which is now cured. They'd probably mail them anyway.

Well have them now some 126 rear wheel bearings, brammer could get the 174 ones but not the 172 ones.
