I went to take the bike for a spin and guess what.......it started, then conked out. F-ing fuel hose from the filter to what i think is a fuel solenoid (??) keeps kinking and cutting the fuel off. I have tried to keep it from kinking when i put the tank down but am having no joy. SO i tried to take the ppipe off the filter and nothing. In fact the plastic on the filter has started to stretch, and its so bad that i have no screwed the filter. So can i ditch the filter and put in on of those cheap (and usually anodised) in lon things or am i best sticking to the Ducati filter (which my local dealer cant even get me) with its pre set bens in the pipes and frustrations at not being able to get the f-ing kink out.

Please help!!

I will post piccies to show you what i mean

I had the very same problem, the kink ( I still think) was behind the demise of my bike on its last outing. I think it also explains why the last guy removed the filter altogether - leading in turn to much woe with a blocked pump. I'm suspecting now after effects in the carbs - but I forgot to check the kink when I dropped the tank tonight. If the engine si strved like this is there a chance of airlocks in the pipes? BTW, there are usually filters on e-bay. If not, I'm sure our conversation is acting as chum Natty boys shark.

Yeah i see that DucatiSparesOnline (via Fleabay) have them. Trouble is i need it like yesterday, and am a bit reluctant to have to wait as i am out of the island from monday, and it will only leave me 8 days before the weekender when i return. So i would be good to sort and take for a spin by the weekend. I think i will try Ducati Coventry or spareshack(if they have this type of thing in stock)tomorrow

Its for a 620/750 but may do the job (just think the pipes are angled differently..)

Have a look at the pic..if you think it will do the job, I can get it in the first class post tommorrow mate....

Cheers natty. I will let you know tomorrow if i cant get the genuine article from a couple of other places i will try. I am just a bit concerned about it just being that little bit wrong and causing more problems than i already have. I have been trying to get a piccie uploaded but i cant reduce it enough for it to meet the limit on the forum. Basically its the pipe from the filter to what i belive is a fuel solenoid. I say its a solenoid because i know its not the pump and i dont know what this other bit could possible be. Well i have an idea of ditching the filter and putting it between this solenoid thing and the fuel pump instead of where it currently is. Not a perfect soloution but has to be better than screwing around with kinks in pipes

Plum,

Do you still a replacement fuel filter? I found one in the shed while rummaging for other bits which i bought ages ago for my M600 and forgot about.

Ducati part no. 42510021A

If so PM me an address and its yours for a pint ;)

All sorted now on this front. My parts arrived within 4 days of ordering. Excellent service yet again from J Hackett.

Well thanks for all of you that offered to get/find/steal one for me. Its much appreciated.

I am off tomorrow for a (relaxing!?) 10 days in St Lucia, and i am hoping that the hotel has internet so i can keep up with all the news of UKMOC. Cant go a day without it!!

Cheers

the spaare parts pdf?

Is this like that great exploded diagram of the bike they use in the Ducati dealers? Only last Saturday I was thinking what a great system it is as you can point to the service monkey what it is you need. Sadly, monkey is as monkey does and he still managed to sell me the wrong bolts. Muppet.

yes its the same, it can be found on the ducati website (dont ask me where though) and it is a godsend, print the page, print the next page with the part numbers and point "I want one of those" the descriptions are also in french, german and italian which is nice.

Exactly as I did to the biff behind the counter. He had it on some sort of HTML version on screen though. He still managed to bugger it up. Imagine my distress at having to make my first proper outing of 2005 with rusty cambelt cover bolts. The horror!
