I took Juan for his first service recently at approx 580 miles. They told me that the maintenance warning light would come on at about 620/640 miles regardless and how to switch it off. They said they couldn't prevent it from coming on before it actually does. Now I've clocked up 800 or so miles, this maintenance sign has not come up. Does anybody know why?

If I remember correctly it only comes on in the lefthand LCD when you first turn the ignition on - i.e. it doesn't show all the time.

Mmmmmm, I wonder why it doesn't show up. Perhaps I should ask the question, has anybody's maintenance light ever come on?! It just concerns me the dealer thinks it should have.

Yep mine came on showning (maint) at what miles i cant remember but it was last year so under 1000.
If it is the same as cars it needs setting when you get the bike so nows when to start counting.

I know and I was watching for it only because I wanted to put the theory into practise about how to stop it. Have to wait or give up.

To reset the 'maint' indicator, hold down the left hand button and turn the ignition on, let go of the button, and then turn the key off, next time you turn it on, it should have dissappered...

I've only had mine come on AFTER a service, when the dealer forgot to reset the count.
As JMo says, it's a simple job to reset it yourself.
