is not having a front mudguard suposed to effect stability or is that more for fully faired bikes ? ,
will i not notice a bit of difference either way ?

I think I would be more worried about the crap/rain being thrown up off the tyre than stability problems. It's could be an MOT requirement too, so plod may take an interest if they see you running without one?

From what I remember it was once an mot requirement and in the construction and use regs that a mudguard encircled 30% of the tyre. I failed an mot on an old triumph for it once many years ago.

Nowadays it seems less important to testers and you see loads of custom bikes etc without them (but do they get MOTs?) be useful to get an official view on it.

Consider though the speed a stone comes off the tyre circumference and you may wish to consider one for safety sake.

Plastic Monnie guards from the pre 2000 years often crack across the mounting bisses on the fork and for anyone with one its worth checking before the whole lot ends up in the front wheel.

After my recent(ish) 'off' the local 'friendly' mechanic told me that I couldn't take my bike home 'cos I was missing the front mudguard and it was a legal requirement.......so it may well be an MOT requirement.....I say 'may well be' as they are a bunch of charlatans who seemed to want to screw me for all I'd got, taking advantage of my vulnerable state....At least now I have a nice shiny new Carbon guard thanks to Mr NattyBoy!

Mud guards ARE a legal requirement.
I think it comes under the 'Construction & Use' regs.

Scotty's mudguard died when his front tyre decided to suddenly deflate.
