Thinking about selling my Monster.

Red 2002 M620i.e (+ Ducati flyscreen).
18,650 miles.
Full Ducati authorised dealer service history.
One owner - me - purchased new in July 2002
Excellent condtion - and meticulously maintained, better that most with half the mileage.

Loved, but no room in garage for two bikes.

Any idea what it's worth as a private sale.

£2,500 - £3250?

Just an estimate based on what a Ducati dealer would offer one for - a wide margin, allowing for location. More in the city, less in the 'wide open spaces'.


If px'ing poss less? :confused:

Thanks for that - I had thought that £3,000 might be about right. Now I just have to pluck up the courage to sell it!!

fwiw, I had trouble selling a 7 month old bike (M620s i.e.) that had 4000 on the clock at that price (3250). It was a couple of weeks ago when there was snow about. Good luck

Don't know the Hotel Cabana - but I'd accept a week at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, might accept the Peninsula if pushed. Don't play any musical instruments so the harmonica wouldn't swing the deal.

the art of negotiation is a fine tool.

i am actually a bit tweeky about p/x price on my little angel. its all a stupid long shot really and the bridge is ever weaker but dreams are dreams.

Quite fancy hong konging it up someday - and just so you know, never visit the La Cabaña without an escort or a fair price.

Forget the abstract - go there for real - I fell in love with Hong Kong 25 years ago take every opportunity to return.

I was horrified to find DLS offered me 2something PX for my 620, on an 800 last year,
fortunately quitting my job stopped me just before the S2R was announced.
Interestingly they coudn't do me a test ride on an 800 and now you can't move about the showroom for the buggers.
Someone suggested the S2R was the only way the factory could get rid of 800 lumps, hardly surprising if the dealers weren't trying to sell 'em.

Thanks all for the sensible replies :-).
So I guess the best I could expect privately is around £2500. It really is in great condition - The BMW dealer that I ordered my new bike from brought out all of his colleagues to have a look because he couldn't believe that it had done 18,000 miles - he even offered me a job valletting his bikes - but he couldn't afford me!!! :)

It seems you brits love sportsbikes. So, in order to see what all the fuss was about I took a CBR600RR for a test this time last year. At that time my monster was 1 year old, 2000 miles, carbon cans...and they said that it was only worth £1500 as PX. Luckily enough I wasn't the slightest bit tempted by their plastic, saccharin, riding experience and walked away loving my monster even more. £1500 for a year old bike with 2000 miles on the clock? Sheesh.

Why do people even bother with PX? selling a bike is not a complicated process and you will get a lot more money! ...that's sheesh to me.

Agreed, only the lazy man talks px - unless its for a car and then you can hand over any old tat and get some cash back. Wouldn't go there with a bike though. Try here, MCN, and e-bay if you're brave.
