HELLO, My wife has a m600 monster, i want to fit a restrictor to it to take it down to 33bhp, i understand that she needs to have this fitted by a specialised and have the certificate that comes with the restrictors.
She has passed her cbt, and i am unsure wether she can legaly ride it on such a licence (she has a full driving licence), if so who do i contact, the DVLA or the insurance company, any help will be very appreciated.

....but your wife will have to take her bike test before she can legally ride a Monster. The CBT only allows you to ride anything uo to 125cc with L plates. To go on to something like a 600 she has to pass either a test on a 125 and ride the Monster restricted, or take a test on a 500 and ride it unrestricted.

Did ya get them mate? I posted them a few weeks back.
If so, have ya got round to fitting the beggars yet?
She'll need it restricted for 2 years if she takes her test on a 125. If she does her Direct Access instead then 33bHP won't be acceptable as a test bike.
Oh, and her insurers will probably want to see a certificate to prove it's been restricted - got a friendly garage nearby?

hi yes i did get the envelope but it had been sliced open and the washers were gone. i think she's going to take her test on a 125 so i need to get it done, i've found a good garage that will fit it for me with the certificate,
thankyou for your advice and help.

Bastards, probably thought the washers were coins! Ha ha, serve them right, sorry that you didn't receive them though.
Good luck to the missus with her test etc.

Never once got asked for a certificate as prove of restriction, glad cause I was never given one my the ducati dealer.
any way I would keep quiet about it being restricted they wanted to increase my premium when I told them the power had been reduced!
was told it's been mod'ed so you gotto pay more

Weirdly enough I had to argue that one too, eventually managed to speak to somebody at the insurers who had a bike and understood, I was actually able to negotiate a small discount! Imagine the odds on that... finding a reasonable human being in an insurance broker's call centre - must've been one of those newfangled Indian ones! :D
