Got Dunlop 207RR's on my S4, Like them very much, grip well and start squirming before letting go. But I will be putting on Avon Azaro ST's, as these grip like S#*t to a blanket and last for ages. Had them on my last 900ss and my 996 Bip, shame Avon don't do RZ's anymore, they were like having cut slicks but only lasted between 1200 & 1500 miles, great fun though. :D :D :D

Diablo's last year and no choice but this year too. Before that 207's which were ok.
The Diablo's have been fine in all weathers thus far but again I only got 2500k out of my rear. We'll see how they behave under race conditions
Had 207's before that and whilst not really a problem they only lasted me 3k miles and made steering slow.
The Diablos' make the bike steer much better with normal bars on - yet to be convinced with the clipons.
For me if there was any niggle at all it would be higher speed instablity but I am talking 120 + here before it can get a little leary.

Reckon you're being a bit heavy handed - my last Diablo rear lasted the best part of 6K (but then I'm a pussy compared to you of course x)

As for handling over 120mph - reckon that's the bike screaming "no more", rather than the tyres... x

Lol not a chance

The instabilty effected another bike too ( Triumph ) Thats the only criticism I have. Other than that i'm very happy.

I never get more than 3k out of a rear - including Mac's on me CBR6

Diablo's are the control tyre we're using for the Desmo Due so we'll all know more by mid way through the year too. I can't try the corsa's cos they don't do em for me ickle wheels.

Michelin Pilots - will go for the softer compound again, or possibly Power spec rubber when these wear out.

That should cover it, methinks

Bridge' BT014's. Superb when they're warm, but a I've found them bit slippy this time of year when they're cold (ahem) ;) , also heard a few other reports of this (including this months 'Bike' magazine)

Diablos, cant really comment on them as they are the only tyres I have had. Seem to slide a little when breaking down through the gears. apart from that feel pretty good, found them slightly "giggly" round fastish corners but hey what do I know :o

Dunlop 208's absolutely brill even at this time of the year more grip than I want to use.
Had Michilin's on before and they were crap so vague ended up sliding down the road on my chest.

Avon Azaro 3 STs by choice, so I can't vote can I??
Done somewhere around the 10000mile mark on them and they are starting to square, which is a shame as they still have loadsa tread left! Now, where's that sander to round them off again....?

Not sure which Bridgestone they are (thats bad) but their the dual compound hooped shape things. So much better than the originals that were on it (Michelin i think) They felt like blocks of lead.....on ice. I never felt overly confident about about tipping it in, but the Bridgestones are like runny poo on a furry blanket. Very happy with them. Will still try a different brand next time as i dont belive you can make an uneducated choice (espcially with tyres) without experementing.

Sir, you are an officer and a gentleman!

As I don't have the patience to sand my squaring tyres round again, I'm gonna replace mine this spring. Gonna try Bridgestone 020's as peeps recommend them highly. Could anyone who has tried Azaro 3 STs AND 020s please give a comparison?

This 900ss came with Azaro's fitted and while they're ok in the dry (only ok), they very not ok in the wet.

Previous Ducati was a 600ss with Dunlop D204's fitted - they were great handling in all weathers. Only got 3000-ish from the rear and 6500-ish from the front tho'

So this survey is great, helps me make my mind up what to fit after the front Azaro is worn out. D207? D208? or maybe something else?

BT012's front and rear on recomendation (DWR)..... What a difference to the Dunlops that came fitted when new. Can't rate them enough in all weathers.

Metzler roadtec Z6. Take a while to warm up but are sticky enough for me (footpeg scrapes :) ) and with a harder compound should last a bit longer as well :D

Dunlop sportmax, a lesser rider would struggle but I like a bit of rear wobble in a lady. Keep going for ages but take a while to warm up....yes, much like a beautiful woman.

BT020s for me, changed from MEZ3s (original tyres).

They definitely last longer which is why I changed, but I have had the front slide in the wet, which never happened in two years on the metzelers.

I've had front (and rear) slides on Metzeler Z3 Racing. Road, air and tyre temperatures weren't brilliant though.

I thought the original tyres were the Z4.

There is an interesting article in superbike magazine this month on tyres...

I've currently got Bridgestone tyres fitted to my M900, but don't like them as much as the Metzeller Sportstecs. Tyre choice is largely down to how you ride, and what you want to get out of the tyre (i.e. long life or maximum grip)

There is also a lot of tyre choice on the monster range, some bikes (generally the smaller capacity ones) use a 120/60 profile front tyre as opposed to the 120/70 that I have. I use a 180 on the rear rather than the 170 that would come as standard on my bike. These things will affect the turn in rate, and stability of the bike.

I personally find the Bridgestones have a too flat profile, and go off the edges before full lean angle, whereas the Metzeller has a bit more edge to it and seems to turn in quicker too. The Metzeller and Pirelli tyres come out of the same factory (or so I'm told) so I opt for Metzellers as they are usually cheaper. I've never tried Michelins, but have heard many times people saying they don't like them on Dukes, but then again they are standard fitment on many models!

For track days, if you can get hold of some, get some of the super sticky tyres designed for track day use and you won't regret it. The grip is amazing. I tried Dunlop 208GP's last year and although they only lasted the day (just!) they were so confidence inspiring. I didn't like them on the road though, they never seemed to get up to temperature and were less stable on our bumpy english roads.

Well, that's my bit, and there should definately be a Metzeller option, as that's probably what I'll buy again next time round.

Just fitted Diablos after a year on D207s.

What a revalation! Diablos offer loads of grip and loads of confidence. Not too pricey either at £170 fitted and balanced on loose wheels.
