Well I have just been through the complete ownership cycle:buying my M600 3 years ago, running it for 3 years / 9000 miles and selling it at the end. Being the tight fisted git that I am, all our finances are recorded on the old PC and I thought you might be interested in the costs I have incurred.

All in it cost me £3,900 that is fuel, service, tax, tyres, insurance and depreciation. That works out at 41p / mile.

Breakdown of costs below. It is not too bad really considering what an ace bike it has been but equally you would not call it a bargain (and I never had a any trouble like repairs / crashes). But maybe I am just being too much of a tight git. :) :) :)

Total Cost / year Cost / mile
Depreciation -£1,125.00 -£375.00 -£0.12
Road Tax -135 -£45.00 -£0.01
Insurance -923 -£307.67 -£0.10
Petrol -585 -£195.00 -£0.06
Service -£1,117.00 -£372.33 -£0.12

Yes I did. It went on ebay to a cheerful chap from Derby. I could easily say he got a bargain but as we all know bikes (and anything else) are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them.

What have I got next?
A Triumph Sprint ST. Fuel injection, 115hp, storage, panniers, heated grips, a proper fairing. Somewhat different to the monster then.

But it is all horses for courses. I enjoyed the Monster (and the company of the UK Monster club). Nothing lasts for ever (especially back tyres  )
