Possibly of more use to the Kenties - but may be open to others if this guys prepared to travel further. I've just got a tip off from a mate about an Ex Pro Twins mechanic (Steve) now operating from Kent, and offering a mobile spannering service for bikes including Ducatis....

Hi all.
Sorry if this does not apply to you, but if you own a Ducati, I have
recently met a guy though the Kent Advanced Motorcycle Group, who used
to work for Pro-Twins. He has recently gone his own way and provides
mobile motorcycle servicing.
He name is Steve R, his
mobile 07795 073 376. He services all makes of bikes, but specialises
in Ducati's.
He own bike is a 900SS, and very sweet it is too, its also bloody fast!!
He is trained on all air cooled and most 4 valve wet heads.
If of interest, remind me when you see me, and I'll give you one of his
cards.

John

No idea of rates etc... at the moment, but John is getting his Beemer fettled by Steve at the weekend, so I should have an update soon :D

Thanks for the tip off on the track day - looks like trailering up with you to Mallory won't be an option after all... ho hum. Glad you got the service booked - 2 months seems an awful long time to wait though?

Maybe worth giving the guy mentioned above a call? He's an ex Pro Twins mechanic who's now working from home, and is also offering a mobile service as well. Think he is based in the Ashford area so would be close to you too.

My mate John's not used him on the Beemer yet, so I'll give him a call tonight for a chat.

Did you want a lift up to Mallory, Gary? If I get my arse in gear, I may have space on my trailer (which is ordered but may not be here in time) which leaves a towbar to be fitted. Oh and my bike needs to be put back together and collected - should be easy enough, only needs some wheels, brakes, handlebars, tank, seat and lights ... and get it painted. Oh, I do like a challenge.....

Hi Simon,

Spotted your project S4R at DWR Monday, when I dropped my 900 in with Dave for its 18k mile service. Looks great, but still appears to have an awful lot of work outstanding before it's completed TBH? The offer of a lift up to Mallory is appreciated, and I know we discussed this plan a few weeks ago, but it does seem a real long shot that you'll have everything (bike, trailer, towbar etc..) sorted in time.

I'm planning to travel up on Wednesday 8th. Hopefully during the afternoon if I can book 1/2 day holiday, failing that when I finish work. Considering staying overnight at the Days Inn Hotel (Leicester Forest services on the M1) as I did last year, but will also check out other local options first.

Would love to commit to the trailer share, but concerned that you may be forced to pull out at short notice for the reasons stated above, and be left with the zero-fun 'Plan B' option of riding to/from Mallory like I did in 2004 :(

19 days and counting - do you think you can make it

Hey, this is Hollywood, stranger things have happened. Trailer is ordered, towbar fitted next weekend (subject to the parts arriving). If the trailer doesn't arrive, I'll hire one for a few days. With regards to the bike, I didn't send any of the original parts off to be painted so it shouldn't be a problem getting it ready in time. Just waiting for the clip-ons and radial master cylinders now - if these don't arrive in time, the original handlebars and masters can go on for the track day. The bike doesn't even need lights as it will be just for the track day and trailered.

BTW, was the exhaust system on the bike when you saw it?

Same here. Booked two days off work and am planning to travel up on the Wednesday - quite liked the Royal Arms that I stayed at last year so may check their availability first.

The offer will stay open with regards to the trailer as I am determined to be there. Things always seem to work better with a deadline - something to aim for.

Optimism abounds

Can you let me have a number for the Royal Arms so I can call them too?

Looks like I'll be giving him a bell tomorrow then too as my valves have been rattling (ooer missus) for a considerable time now.
