Hi,

I know this subject has been discussed before, but I am still a bit confused. Are aftermarket cans interchangeable between monsters - specifically between older carburetted models and newer injected ones?

For example, would cans from a '99 M600 fit my '03 620ie? Are they a direct swap, do you need to get different link pipes or is it just a complete no no?

If anyone can shed further light on this, I would really appreciate your thoughts!

Yes it does get confusing. Its down to the type of frame/swingarm type.Pre 2001 and post 2001 when they changed. I have been told that they are all the same and can verify that 600 will fit 750 and 900. 620 will fit s4 as Sazza put her cans on s4.
There maybe some issues about breathing etc but i cant verify this.

Ah right, so it is more down to the year of the bike (pre or post '01) rather than engine size/ type of engine. It begins to make some sense!

Bought some of a member on here(sorry cant remember who)but these were from an older monster/mines an 04 plate 620i.
Cans slotted on fine but I had to a bit of adjustment to the brackets to hold them to the bike at the mounting points.
Bit of bending of the mounting brackets sorted it nothing to hard though :)

The main difference is in the chassis used. The early Monsters (600, 750 & 900) used a frame based on the 888 chassis. The later bikes used the ST range frame.

As far as cans go, the only real difference that I know of is the S4 link pipes are different.

Sazza used her 620 pipes on s4 . You saying that strikes me into confusion

Yeah Albie

I thought about that but I have it on good authority that stock Duke pipes for an S4 wont fit the aircooled bikes (I'd be happy to be proven wrong..) as te headers are slightly different.

Sazza used Carbon Can Company cans with no support brackets as they're light on the 620 so that maybe why they fitted both

Bike looks good BTW

...Sazza (and Rog) used the little link pipes from the original JMo set up which hold the cans on with sky hooks and monkey string I believe.
