ok kiddies, does anyone know if the gearing takes place down on the wheel or a sprocket thang in the speedo itself? common sense would be a different gear/sprocket/wheel/hoodjamaflip in the dash but I fear its down by the wheel, necessitating a change there too.....why make things easy eh.....
The most prompt (correct) reply becomes my new bestest friend.

Are you trying to convert a Kph Clock to Mph?
We obviousley need a photo to confirm your statement then :D
As for the original topic I would imagine in is all done in the spedo head, you can get converters that either stick on the spedo clock, or an in line thingy that sits inbetween spedo drive and spedo head to convert it.

............so they say. Jazzy B its a kph clock I need, but I need to know if just the clock needs to be switched- as in the kph gear ratio is converted at the clock end with a different spindley thing there or do I need both the clock for the kph face plus change the attachmet at the wheel hub and the cable. catcha tha drift.
Alex.
ps my sisters have nice breasts.

From what I was told when I was changing my Kph was that it was at the clock end (but what do I know)
I got the converter from M&P (I did a search for Kph)
http://www.mandp.co.uk
I got hold of one of these to screw into the back of the speedo and it saved all the messing around with the clock itself, so whatever the speedo is reading it's in Mph :)
Its prob not the info you are after

I'm not too sure that you're allowed to appreciate funbags in your siblings....
just put some stickers on your clock face, or open it up and change the backdrop. you will have to do this anyway: if you change the gearing and keep the mph marking, you end up with a top speed on the speedo of 140km.h (87.5mph...)
you should be driving every where at that speed in France !
the mechanism/gearing is very likely to be the same all over the world, only the print changes on the clock backdrop.
you may also want to convert your rear seat attachement, to comply with french laws regarding the carriage of onions, garlic and baguettes.

I suspect you are right stef and that its just the face design, apparently getting the face of is a bit of a pallaver but once off there is a company that does faces, stu used to sell them or I could photoshop something......hang on the mechanism must be different as ones mileage kilometreage is there to! someone here must have an answer that is more than speculation and breast size? whats the e number on yr lamp stef, Ive been told that e 4 is right side europe.
Alexandre.
umm.. me monster is british, so i dont think it will help.
you are right, you trip meter and total thinggy will still be mph.. but that's not so bad.
maybe you can dig-up a new clock in a scrap-yard (casse moto, in french)

Maybe you misunderstood my previous reply - I think I have a complete kmh clock in my garage somewhere. One of my previous monsters (M900 I think) was an import and I didn't like the mph stickers on the face so I swapped the clocks over - no converter, no hacksawing of the top, no fiddling about at the wheel end - just a simple bolt on swap. The clock readout worked perfectly well as far as I know (or I spent my time riding excessively slowly thinking I'm travelling at 30mph when in reality I was doing 30 kph. This may explain my lack of speeding tickets if my maths is correct).
Now, if you really promise that I can be your new best friend and that you promise not to start talking Latin to me, I'll dig it out and you can have it completely gratis. Not sure of the total trip but I'm pretty sure it's not excessive - 10-15,000 ish.
Let me know if these are the droids you are looking for,
best regards
simon

that would mean you are a lovely man! lemme know the el postino and I can bosh out a cheque, so just to be 100% this is a kph clock not the face or the entire dash. my dash is the old style one on the side, idiot light array (groovy word, the future has arrived) on the right, the 900 had a tach too no? but anyway Im sure the clock was the same shape and should hopefully swap over/slot in..tell ye what marchesimon if you can post a wee piccie b4 posting (if thats possible) it should clear up any vagueness, as I have plenty of vagueness in my life as is! thanks again matey.

Anyway, pics as requested and only reading 11,000 ish kilometres.
BTW, off to Ireland until Sunday so won't be able to do much with it until then but if you are interested, let me know where you want it sent. As regards to payment, no thanks other than enough to cover the postage and some bubble wrap.
